Nuvifone – the first handset from Garmin have passed FCC (an independent government agency that regulates interstate and international communications by radio and television and wire and cable and satellite). So Garmin Nuvifone is now headed to the market. The phone is fully touch operated and it’s named after Garmin’s very own Nuvi navigation system.
The handset is actually manufactured by Asus and it’s codenamed Asus Calf. Garmin Nuvifone has got nice large 3.5 inch touchscreen, built-in GPS reciver and camera with geotagging feature. There is also HSDPA support on the 850 and 1900 MHz bands.
The phone also can record videos and snap photos with geotagging feature. Other niceties of the Nuvifone include music and video player, web browser, audio book reader and a nice organizer. The user interface also strongly resembles the Nuvi series and we are therefore tempted to guess that the phone will be very pleasant to work with.
The main focus is the built-in GPS reciver and GPS navigation software. There is no pricing and availability information yet.
