The devices measures 59.5 x 100.5 x 16.95 mm with a weight of 135 grams – not bad at all. Palm Pre has got large 3.1 inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels and multi-touch support. There is also accelerometer for autoscreen rotation. Below the screen we have a special gesture area. The gesture area is special zone under the screen that allows the user to interact with the interface by using gestures (more information you’ll find on the demo video below).

It’s powered by a TI OMAP 3430 processor which is expected to be powerful enough. There is also Bluetooth A2DP + EDR, Wi-Fi, microUSB and built-in GPS reciver. One of the most interesting this about Palm Pre is the Touchstone charging dock. You are able to charge the device simply by placing it on top of the Touchstone without plugs and wires. Here is the Touchstone below.

Palm Pre has got 8GB of internal memory and no memory card slot. The phone sports USB Mass Storage so you won’t need to install additional software to transfer files between you phone and the computer. The handset has got camera too – 3.2 megapixels fixed focus with no video recording option. There is standard 3.5mm audio jack.

The other interesting this is the new OS – webOS also called Touch OS. It has multi-touch support and offers some nice features. We can say webOS is one step further comparing it to iPhone. There is no third-party software yet, but Palm have promised to release SDK openly and publicly for developers to make something like Apple AppStore.

The Palm Pre is expected to hit the market by mid-2009. The device will soled exclusively through Sprint USA. There is also GSM/UMTS version planned to hit the market in Europe later on.
