HTC Touch Cruise 09 officially unveiled

January 22, 2009

in Announcements

HTC have announced today the new HTC Touch Cruise 09 – Windows Mobile 6.1 powered device with GPS navigation as main feature. This is the rumored HTC device codenamed Iolite.

It’s too hard for the marketing deparemant over the Taiwanese company to think of a new name about this new handset and they have used an old one – there is HTC Touch Cruise released back in 2007. So they are using an old name for a new device.

The strongest selling point of HTC Touch Cruise is the GPS navigation features. It packs brand new ANS (Advanced Navigation System) and new location-based services – geotagging of photos, sound clips, video clips etc. There is also full turn-by-turn navigation capabilities.

The phone runs with TouchFLO user interface on the 2.8 inch 65k QVGA touchscreen. The phone also sports 3G with HSDPA, WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0. The camera has 3.2 mp and fixed focus.

The phone will start shipping this spring with an estimated price of 460 euro or 600 US dollars.
