Samsung are offering to us a new feature – movies for mobile phones, obviously they are getting into the online content business. They launched a new website called Samsung Movies in Germany and the UK with more than 500 titles and 1000+ expected by the end of June 2009. This service will be available in the European markets later on.
You can choose from two options – home viewing and viewing on the go. You are able to rent or purchase a movie for your computer at home or your mobile phone while you are traveling for example. The computer version is 1.5 GB in DVD resolution and the mobile version is three times smaller – 500MB.
So far only Samsung S8300 UltraTOUCH is supported for uploading mobile content, more devices will be added later on. If you watch the movies on your desktop PC all you need is Windows Media Player nothing else. The price range for rentals is 2.49 to 3.99 GBP and 7.99 to 13.99 GBP for purchases. The movies are from big Hollywood studios, wich means you can get almost every movie.
